202 card requirement

202 card requirement
Im considering getting a 202 to use in conjunction with my 404sx, my question is exactly what kind of card is required for the 202, and what are the benefits of having a card versus not having one. Thanks

well, the smartmedia you have to find is not the 303's and 505's one (the 3,3v type) but it has another voltage, maybe 5v (202 heads help!).
the advantege is that you can sample way longer than without card and you can -maybe- copy samples trough the pads via the card 'cause you haven't resampling function on the 202...

yes i think it's 5 volt 2 mb will work on this. same as mc 505.
someone can correct me . i think the mc 505 and sp 202 are the same card.

yes it is the 5v - the benefit is using banks C/D
However on C/D pads you can't Reverse, Time or Delay
with the full 4MB card you can record up to 4:27 [of mono] audio as opposed to the 0:32 of mono on banks A/B
[half the times for stereo samples]
no resample, no pad copying
EDIT: for [possibly unneeded] clarification the extended memory is locked to only C/D
