BPM Adjust - Phrase

Only when the sample is set to single mode, the bpm of a sample won't change to the pattern's bpm when that pattern is playing.
I want to change the BPM manually in BPM adjust mode, but it when I fasten the sample up, the sample will still adjust to the pattern's bpm when I play that pattern. When the pattern is not playing, the sample is playing sped up like it should.

Phrase samples
A sample of an actual performance is generally called a “phrase sample.”
When using a phrase sample on the SP-505, set the Play Type sample parameter to “PHRASE.” This allows the BPM (tempo) of the sample to automatically be adjusted to match the playback BPM of the sequencer BPM.

It says 'This allows'. But the way I am experiencing it, is that the sample is mandator to adjusting to match the playback BPM...

I just want to change the bpm of a sample without the fact that the sample will automatically change to match the tempo of playback/pattern. Is this possible?

As in the final result, yes.

So this is only possible via resampling the sample? You can not adjust the bpm of a sampler and play that sample on top of sequencer without the bpm of the sequencer affecting the bpm of the sample?

Th BPM of a sample set to phase is locked to the tempo of your current sequence.

- adjust bpm of phrase sample
- resample
- set new sample to 'single' and sequence normally with newly adjusted BPM

*fyi - I never use the bpm/time stretch or chop features on my 505. Rarely do I use the pitch feature either. The 505 is certainly not an MPC so I don't use it like one.
