Scary Grandma SP Battle # 154

Post by FreshSerfPro »

I guess it was a tie between Loheesh and I (congrats Loheesh!) - anyways I threw some stuff together quick - here's what's up!

https://app.box.com/s/dd4dfq17ialjeemil5re

SOUNDS:
An old Cumbia tune by Lucho Bermudez - "Mi Cumbia".

A neo-bluesy tune by Gillian Welch - "Time (The Revelator)"

A clip from an old CBC horror radio show called "The Old Ones Are Hard to Kill".

Some drum loops and a couple of crashes.

RULES:
-Must sample from at least one of the two songs. ("Mi Cumbia" or "Time")

-No outside drums.

-All gears and styles welcome but try to keep supplied samples the focus.

-All entries in by the end of Tuesday April 29th (a week from now).

-Poll starts Wednesday April 30th, will run until the end of Friday May 2nd (3 day poll). Please if you submit a beat, submit a vote!

-HAVE FUN!!!

OK, just downloaded this zip, and I have to give it up because these sounds are DOPE and I'm not always feeling the samples...

I'll try to contribute this time... gotta think about this one... O_O

Word! So far 35 downloads on the sample pack so maybe a big turnout? I'm stoked!

Haven't battled in too long. Can't pass on a sample like that Lucho Bermudez tune either, nice picks, Serf!

Well I was having a hard time figuring out how to flip this on the 202 so I was going to give up, then I heard Chopperman's and got inspired to keep trying so I figured I would try a DAW approach but my computer is melting I guess, it's freaking out every 5 seconds and it's way too frustrating to work on this anymore but at least I did something haha

Here's my flip: https://soundcloud.com/sebphfx/sp-battle-154

I used a Realistic concertmate 350 that I found at Value Village for 2$. It's a copy of the Casiotone but it's still cool. It's got a "one note play" button and you can record, so It's awesome for fast arpeggios. It's monophonic but awesome. If you ever find one get it!

damn Ghoul that is fucking niceeee
just got an SX myself [compulsive mania episodes =.=] I could only wish for my first track to sound that good [here's hoping]

on another note is anyone having a super hard time with soundcloud? I can't remember really but I think I might have updated flash recently and certain artist's music just refuses to stream. I can stream about 50% of artists fine but if they're bugged literally not a single song they uploaded will stream so I have to do some gay mp3 ripping just to hear them. might just have to uninstall and re-install flash and hope for the best
