damn scruff, that shit was on point, really enjoyed it, creager switch hardflip in the rain, that dude is the best, plus early robbie mckinley footage, i always liked his stuff in yeah right and the dc video, sucks he kinda faded out

i didn't comment in the thread for it, but i'll just take this opportunity to say that your newest tape blew me away, i didn't know how you were gonna top the first album cause that shit was so good and you were quiet for a bit, but this shit was an excellent extension off of the first, crazy how you continue to top yourself, i'll always be checkin for your stuff

also back on topic, just got back from skatin for a few hours, sun was shining, nice little cookie cutter park was dead, has a mini, good ledge, and bank to skate, felt good to be out and active, gotta get back in to it consistently

lovin that front 5-0 photo, it does a great job of capturing the feeling of standing up proper in one, best feeling, that was a trick that, when i finally felt comfortable doing them, it felt like a real turning point for me when learning to skate transition

if you're feeling it get back out on your board DON!!

hell yeah, that boston footy had me hyped, i've always wanted to skate boston, it looks so fun in video and shit, that beat for the blind edit was on fucking point! and don_goldman those are some sick pictures! i really love the way photography and skateboarding interact, that front 5-0 and the one foot to fakie both feel really good in those shots. i need to hit up some of the photo heads i know and see if anyone wants to help me learn to use my dad's old 35mm that's just sitting in my closet!

Great thread! I was already planning on restoring my skate video that I made during my high school days and seeing these pics and videos was the kick in the ass that I needed to get it done! My friends and I weren't incredible skaters but these were the days. I'm the second person in the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86QK9rN ... e=youtu.be

I always liked Tom Penny's style. He's got a rythm and flow to the way he rides. And his frontside flips look so buttery.

When I see footage of stuff like that it motivates me to start skating again. I guess I don't becsuse getting hurt would keep me out of work.

I guess I could take it easy and just cruise around and stick small stuff.

that's beautiful man! I'm inspired by that so thanks for sharing.
Cool to see Tom Penny and Ricky Oyola mentioned. I used to idolize those dudes. Speaking of that Eastern Exposure video, the sections that stand out most in my memory, besides Oyola's, are Tim O'Connor and Jahmal Williams.

P.S. Long live the Gonz!

Hell yes! Tim O doesnt get enough recognition, fucking style KING, and doing hard tricks that others dont do! Jahmal goes down as an all time fav for sure, if you havent seen the company hes doing now its called Hopps you should check their output, great art direction and really solid but sparse video output.

damn, no wonder i feel so at home here, love pretty much all the same stuff you guys do, esp tim o. wish he still skated like he used to, and his comedic shit was always the best (mosaic commentary, chris nieratko roast, tampa contests). i think the first video i ever owned was element world tour and his part made a lasting impression on me for sure. not totally sure why because at the time i didn't know much about skateboarding, it might have had something to do with that dope phil upchurch loop used in the instrumental he skated to, and how it was edited with him landing right on the beat. when i got that record years later and came across that loop it took me back, immediately sampled it in and let it loop for hours.

been skating once or twice a week for a few weeks now and it feels great. its so nice to get out and feel comfortable pushing around and warming up. that initial skate after a long winter/break is brutal, it sucks feeling uncomfortable rolling around and doing (read:bailing) little ollies and eating shit on stupid things (for a visual example of this see poppalardo's more recent footage). pops was another dude who had a big impression on me and the kind of skating i grew to like. i began to hang with the older kids in my school who skated when i first started and they were big workshop/habitat fans and that definitely rubbed off on me (still got an orange vhs copy of photosynthesis from them that i cherish). its a shame how hard he's fallen off, but at the same time it's hysterical how uncomfortable he looks riding a skateboard
