Filtering out kicks

I made a beat a i really like and i first did melody with kicks as a resample, then melody and hats, so on. I didnt realize until after the 2 hours i worked on it that the kicks were off. Is there anyway to filter them out of the final and overlay them again? I tried remaking the beat but i completely forgot what to drum at which time, what effect to use, etc. I got lucky with MFX 24 but im not sure how to use it properly. I read the manual and it seems like sometimes it has no sound so i have to turn the on off knob from hard left to hard right. Any help is appreciated.

I don't think there's a specific way to eliminate sounds like this, especially on 404. However, some computer programs might be able to. I remember reading about one program that can pick out individual instruments and notes of a recording then change their pitch to create new sounds out of old ones...maybe it can also eliminate those specific sounds too. I don't recall what any of the program names are though, I've only heard their results (which sounds pretty convincing).

I had lots a fun doing it first time. Should i just move on to a new beat? I dont feel like the remake wud be fun.

it depends on how you work. you can never fully extract them, but if you have an audio editor you can carve them out with eq and put new ones in there. This is one Achilles heel of the re sample approach to beat making.

if you did it via a sequencer, just delete the lane data et voila...

If you try to filter out the kick, you'll also end up filtering out any other lows/mids in the beat. You won't like the end result.

I remember reading and learning about this software, it is melodyne. It created contreversy because it doesnt actually isolate the parts of the song, its more like recycle, then you tune each slice.

everyone was going nuts because they thought you could extract parts of the song, for example, take the drum line out of a song, and use it as a break, in reality, this is impossible. I think the goal of the melodyne project was to acheive this, but i dont think it happened yet. or ever will.

I would use the isolator effect with all the knobs turned to the left, resample the pad while it is on loop mode. Now hold down the effect grab button and you can tap or hold the isolator button to mute pieces of the sample. If you tap it quickly and with good timing you can remove the kicks or snare hits and slide your own in. Just experiment until you get the result you need

If you open up the sound in audacity, and then go to EQ you can edit it so it only cuts out a specific freq range, Ive been able to cut out kicks, hi hats, and other stuff and it doesnt effect the other lows or his becuase its only cutting out the frequency range that the kick drum, or whatever, is on...
