skateboarding

Post by QuiVive »

I love skateboarding. A lot. It was a long winter for me this year, because i piled out and watched movies with my lady and ate junk food instead of getting hassled by cops and security guards trying to get something in despite the rain. But it's getting nice again and all my homies have started coming out of their hibernation and we've been skating again, and filming a little too, so i thought it would be fun to make a little thread where i could drop any videos or photos i'm involved in and hopefully if anyone else here skates theirs could end up in here too.
so this was filmed and edited today, it has rained all week and we didn't get lucky enough to actually skate outside at all, not my best work on a board but a fun little edit anyway.

backing this thread, quivive got that dope wallride nollie, and i love how you skate the sketchy high ledge right next to the stairs, just making do on a rainy day, definitely makes me nostalgic for spots i used to skate when i was more active about going out and finding stuff and not being so picky about what we skated, and then carols edit was real cool, well done, loving the all the tranny, the first backside boneless on the white brick banks was tight!!

i found an edit from a few years ago thats still on the net that i got a few things in, my man Mowgli is in there too, haven't been skating nearly as much as i should be (i can count on one hand how many times i've skated in the last year) but i got out last monday for the first time in a few months and i think i'm heading out in an hour or two to get it in again, never gets old (but unfortunately i do)

hell yeah, some dope footy comin up in this thread! both of yall got some sick spots at your disposal, i'm almost thirty and i still haven't really figured out how to get comfortable in tranny hahha.

that 50-50 on that sketchy ledge, the first one i did i put my front ankle through the handrail and had to tone it back like 3 pushes to pull it off haha.

that spot with the ledge and then two stairs that got hardflipped, anyone taken any grinds off that ledge and over the stairs? looks doable from the footage but hard to tell. the fat as fuck front 180 into the sketchy bank and the backside flip over the stairs in the red bank were my favorites in that vid.

I remember my skateboarding days.
There's a video on YouTube of some old footie (filmed late 90s) of my boy Dom skating around Boston: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ti0ThhinAI

He died of a drug overdose some years later.
His dad has a cool foundation that accepts donations to help fund programs to keep kids off away from drugs and alcohol.
He jumps in the ocean during the frigid winter months for charity.

quivive, yeah that ledge looks super short and is just asking to twist your leg around like it sounds it did, so pretty much anything on it is gnarly, love skating shit spots like that, ones that are gnarly and/or fun in person and with your friends, but might not translate well outside of your circle or in a video, there used to be this parking garage we would always skate on rainy nights and in the winter that had this one discolored patch going down the ramps that was a little flatter and barely stood out as being different from the rest of the ground, but we would play games of skate over it for hours and get super hyped on it, i wouldn't skate one time and i'd hear from my buddy that he got something over it i'd have watched him try on other nights and we'd talk about it like he got some NBD on a dope spot or something

as far as that ledge next to the statue, people have been skating that gap for as long as i can remember, theres a bonus section in the most recent local shop video with old footage from back in the late 90s when the dudes who run the shop were teenagers and they were skating it then. i've never seen or heard that somebody did what you said, though i really wouldn't be suprised to hear somebody has 5050d it, but beyond that i would be pretty blown away, as you can see in some of the footage the edge is super rounded, there are a bunch of young rippers around here right now though so who knows what they got in mind

the two tricks you mentioned were both my buddy evan, he rips so hard its crazy, he had an excellent part in the recent shop vid that isn't on the net otherwise i would link it, he would be real hyped you were psyched on that 180 into that crusty bank, he talked about wanting to do that for a while

and mattcoops, watching your buddies old footage skating boston was tight, liked seeing a couple classic boston spots in there, mainly copley square and it looks like he was at hospital with the brick banks though there wasn't footage of him skating there, and he was charging those lengthy 5050s!! glad you can remember him and reminisce over good times you had

skateboarding is still rad!!!!
