Roland P-10 * My new toy

Post by Ill Green »

This is not an SP but SPs should be built like this. Its all metal and a color LCD screen like my MV :P

This is a video sampler but sampling here, is called Capturing. I'm looking to expand my production into the visual realm on some fantasia type shit but didn't want to be bogged down to a computer. I want to have fun like I do with an SP or MV, you know.

Yeah bro, they go for $1200 USD. I was saving up since last July for this. They're kinda rare in the states due to software. bandh.com are the only retailers has them in stock, other places like Sweetwater and Musician's Friend only sell it as a special order and its shipped from Roland's factory. Takes weeks!!!

I'm working on a vid to introduce the next album which should be ready by June. Its a long one this time.

For what it does, I really like it, it looks complicated but its easy to use, haven't read the manual yet because its like an SP, everything is on the panel and feels like an SP404 but with color screen.

Awesome man, i was wondering if there was something out there like that...(video sampler)
I'm always seeing weird video snippets in public domain/B-movies that would fit perfect with SP music but i've never found a quick/easy way to grab them

looking fwd to what you do with this

Korg used to make the Kaptivator, that was superior but cats still want 2005 prices.

I'm thinking about getting the P-10 unit also. How do you like it? Do you have any projects I can view?

It pretty much an SP but for visuals, though you can chop a video and leave the sound in you can have fun like an SP too.

Got things in secret for my upcoming album but I sequenced this one in the P-10. Its easy to use too. Special effects were from my android.

Hey ellaguru!!

The best app I use is Video Wiz. No advertisements and no crashes. I did the SD Godzilla 1971 video entirely on the android with that app. It trims videos and adds music and there is a mixer to balance the sound of the video with your Mp3. I like to make multiple copies of a footage and then trim and glue it all into one footage.

The app came with my android but it should be in the Google store.

Now the P-10. The effects are mostly different fade ins and outs, different angles to zoom in and out. You can slow and speed footage but the sound gets grobulated like SP timestretch. You can load 400 jpeg files to a pad and thats a good thing if you want to animate photos or do cartoons for a video. Its like slideshow but with more control. You can upload a track to play it and you can play the images along your beat to do collage and cut aways type of video. Its just a sampler though, so for special efx like light sabers and green screens, you'll have to create them in a program like Vegas then sample the result to be manipulated DJ style in the P-10. And thats its purpose, to create a bond between sound and video in the music realm.
