I think if we just made every new user have their first post approved by a moderator it would cut out the spam completely.

Why kitchens?
They dont have public e-mail. They have a contact form... A classic DOS attack is the way. WAR! Guess we have wait for some kind of member approval...

just to keep in mind, spamming forums takes a lot of work by an operator to automate these kitchen spam posts. so be thankkful it's not poop eater porn pictures like other forums get. a good idea i can offer is maybe upgrade the forum software ? . fighting fire with fire might not work so well. it would be liike opening fire blindfolded in the forest hoping to shoot a rabbit,

Also mods need the ability to delete accounts too. I will be deleting a spam post only to have the same member post 3 or 4 more times in a row.

I wish the site owner were more involved and interactive. There must be a better way than wasting man hours to manually delete these posts! Every single one of them has "kitchen" in it. Is there no way to flag posts based on content or other methods? If they are making new accounts then add a captcha or other method to verify a real human- a question and answer combo- whatever. I have never seen a user forum so inundated by such a narrow type of spam for so long. I know I have also not donated a penny to the hosting of this domain or site but I would, and I feel have given back by responding to many a post and even looking in the unanswered posts from time to time. Just trying to point out I am not entitled or complaining just to be an ass.
:)

ehi guys, i t happended something weird Yesterday...
i was surfing the forum last night and by chance i noticed a strange nickname on the bottom page, wich shows the ones are connected, ...so i was cusrious and i clicked to this strange nickname (i forget it but if i see it i will remember) and i went to his/her profile...it was a brand new profile with no posts still...but, at the bottom of this profile there were written the name of favourite site....somethnig with http:// www xxxxxxxx kitchen... ; on the profile page i noticed a "warn user" button, due to my english i didn't knew well what it was, but i remembered movie or cartoon scene with alarm (warning! etc) so i clicked on it and i could send this "memeber" a message...
...the "wellcome message" i wrote was:"fuck you"...
for now i don't see spamm by him/her, neither pm against me...who knows...

heres a cool bad idea for the admin
put an .HTACCESS file in the root directory with password protection.

you can put a friendly message in the dialog with a math equation or something. with the answer the password. a javascript or bot cant figure it out and wont get past the first page. it will also block all automated acess however, which will complicate SEO, caching and feeds. hence bad idea

http://www.pagematic.com/faq/htaccess.htm
just a little trick.
but it would work to keep spammers out.

Why don't people realize the only person who can make changes to the forum is KeesJ. PM him with comments and suggestions. The people here who delete spam are just moderators and we don't have the ability to make changes. Believe me, if I had the privileges to make setting changes/updates I would.
