mastering the compressor

hey all, i need help. can you guys give me examples of the 404 compressor being used tastefully? i.e. not insane ducking brickwall madness? i want to make cool beats that arent wacky as hell sometimes, but the logic of how to use it properly escapes me.

I think there's a list of what each CTRL represents in the manual,

I've tinkered with it but find it brings out too much background hiss? .. just my experience .. I might not have used it right?!
