Your Ultimate SP ?

Post by ZipSnipe »

Mine would be everything the sp808 is plus waveform editing like on the sp606. Output expander where each sample pad can be sent to a different output. Instead dual fx lets go Quad cuz it sounds kool

I haven't tried out an MV8000/8800, I don't know if it has the pads being sent out to different outputs but that would be sweet.

It seems odd that with so many samplers out there, none of them get it perfect, doesn't it? I mean, we can all talk about our favorite hardware and how it does something really well, but where is the hardware that does it all, and does it well - and also hits it out of the park on form factor and portability?

I think it doesn't exist because 1) you can't please everyone, ever and 2) no manufacturer can afford to put all of that in one box and sell it at a reasonable price.

So, the consumer ends up with something short of perfect, every single time. That's not to say that we all can't be happy and do great things with the products - to each their own.

Having said all of that - if my SX had a nice screen like the Maschine Studio, I would be very satisfied.

They already made the ultimate SP..... It's called the MV8000/8800 ;)

If I was looking for the "perfect" sampler, it would just be a mini sp1200 with sample time like the sp404 (stream from memory card). It would be about the size of the mpc 500, sp505, zoom r8 etc etc. It needs to run off batteries as well as USB power.

Me and Hseiken were talking about new electribes. All korg needs to do is shove their 3 volcas into a single unit and include the sampling features of the Korg ESX.... BOOOM! Instant success!

Well said Jetson. Your right its as if I need to be down there in the R&D lab and take charge.

Booyyung lol

formal I agree , I love Korg although not for their samplers but for their sound. The crispiest power synths on the planet.

I got my eye on the MV8000 I am trying to convince my self to get one, but a korg synth is at the top of the list now

an hybrid between 1)mc909/mv8000 seq (+pitch,faders,2fx,pads,autosync,mute tracks etc), and 2)404/303/555 ergonomy (reverse,loop,mark)...i didn't mention the 606/505 because everything is yet inside 1)...the dimensions of an sp505 could be cool (not that big and not that small)...faders could be the ones on mc09 or the little ones on mc909 (the ones for pitch, lfo etc)...sp303 a/d conventers sp404 loop fx...mc909 SampleMachineGun stutter effect...

Ultimate SP:

Size of 404 and runs on batteries and upgrades onto 404 operation as follows:

Includes mute groups
4 track sequencer like 505
true lofi or 'faux' lofi depending on whether lofi is on during sampling or not.
option between turntable pitch or grain pitch
ability to treat pads like an octave.
velocity sensitive pads
SDHC support
USB wav transfer
and for the midi crowd, decent midi in/out (fuck that shit afaic)

That would make ultimate SP.

I agree with the guy above me. I just want the best of the 202/303/404 in one machine, maybe with a couple extras. That would be a dream come true.

They could easily put all that into 1 portable sampler and they would have my $ in a heartbeat.
