Your gf is talented. I like the penguin. Where does the grapeseed oil come into play? I tried asking on her blog would not work for some reason.

ok, the grapeseed oil is a substitute for gamsol. it is essentially a thinner for oil paints and pastels. she will scribble on a separate piece of paper with the pastel and then dip a brush into the grapeseed oil and it comes out like a richer denser water color. she says the grapeseed oil is not as rich as gamsol but is non-toxic.

Oh awesome- thank you for asking her- so cool to know- I have a whole bottle of gs oil and do a little scribbling myself from time to time- good to know!

i'm glad she switched, she does a lot of finger smudging when working with oils and gamsol is pretty toxic. also veggie oil is supposed to work just as well.
