The Five Senses

Post by kel »

Here's a fun question...

If you had to lose 3 of your 5 senses, which would you choose to lose (and why)?

senses are:

sight
sound
taste
touch
smell

Not a bad question, but not a fun question. Its hard to imagine living without just one of your senses. I think, if I was forced to choose, I'd keep hearing and touch.

I would keep sight because I think seeing is believing.

I would keep sound because it lets you sense from all directions and from far away. I also have better sound response than smell recognition.

In a world where everyone only has two senses, I think there would be a ton of people tripping over chairs and making a whole lot of noise.

I would lose taste, touch, and smell. At my age, they hardly work anyway!

I'd keep sight and hearing .. I don't need to smell or taste as a necessity .. feeling though .. I'd try to compensate through sight to know about grip and physical use of objects

Ugh- all I can say is I have read a lot of Oliver Sack's books (great reads or audio books) and losing any sense can be very difficult to deal with in ways you might not expect. There are also so me unique ones.

I would suggest his book/audiobookThe Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat as a starter.

For me, probably def keep hearing.
Losing touch is a hard one- you can get infections, injuries, not know you are sick, etc. it is major.
I guess I would keep hearing and fuck I hate these king of questions!
