Problem with Auto-Sampling on SP-404SX

Does anyone have a problem with auto-sampling on the SP-404SX? I followed the manual which says I need to hold down [CANCEL] and press [REC] which I do but I only see "---" on the screen rather than "-0-".

Anyone know what I am doing wrong? FYI I am trying to auto-sample from my MPC to the 404SX.

Any tips appreciated!

not a Scooby doo .. never herd of pressing cancel to record .. never tried auto sample ..just manual is quick enough

Are you turning the knob all the way to the right to change it from 0-9?

Thanks - I did try that but the numbers appear to just go from 0 through to 100+ (I suspect its a BPM set).

Other features where [CANCEL] is held down also don't seem to work (e.g. effect limit mode) also don't work, although the [CANCEL] button itself does. Not sure if its a problem with the SP itself (although its box new) or just some setting I have it on.

Anyone else had this problem?
