Re: DVD to VHS
Pretty sure you'll never get a direct VHS-DVD combo to work... Think I remember something about DVD players being designed not to work with analog connections so in the early days of DVD peope wouldn't rip DVDs to VHS & bootleg 'em.
But you never know, you might be able to get a working set up by chucking a digital to analog converter inbetween the two. Googled a bunch of devices here: https://www.google.com/search?q=vhs+recorder
But most of those devices are for getting VHS onto computers, not the other way around. You might be able to do what you're describing, but you might have to find a bunch of AV specialists to sort it out. Good luck!

Re: DVD to VHS
To me it seems like you're doing it the wrong way around.
You'll need to connect the DVD to the VCR and VCR to the TV.
The scart in the back of your tv is probably for picture input.
1. Connect VCR to TV
2. Search the TV channels to get the VCR picture on screen.
(Easy to do with a video tape playing).
3. Connect DVD player to the VCR
4. Search the channels on VCR or use "Input select" switch if you have
one to get the DVD picture on screen.
5. Press play on DVD and rec on VCR
Hope this makes any sense!

Re: DVD to VHS
I've found this VHS to DVD converter, check it out, probably it works the other way round.
