running macbook pro, steinberg ur22 audio/midi interface and mpd18.
one of my macbook's usb ports is down and i'm trying to figure out if i should get a usb hub and connect the steinberg and mpd to that, or should i get a midi interface and connect the mpd usb out to the midi in on the ur22? (i'm not using phantom power on the steinberg)...

Re: USB Problem...
A USB hub will be cheaper, but you have to remember that some devices need the hub to be powered externally to work properly.
USB midi adapter will always work, but doesn't allow the expansion extra USB ports do. A midi port is nice to have for sequencing external gear too....
I'd prolly just get the USB hub since its easier/cheaper to get.

thanks--got the unpowered hosa hub since it was advertised to work especially for midi controllers and audio interfaces. $6 and its working great! a lot of people told me the hub needed to be powered, guess they were all wrong...
