relationships, the opposite sex, etc.

Post by cartesia »

Girls are doing my head in lately (especially what with valentines day being last week), and I find when I have them on my mind, I cannot concentrate properly or formulate coherent musical ideas...or get ideas down into sounds.

I've noticed that alot of musicians/producers I know, tend to be more often single than other people. . (is this because you can't make room in your bed when there's an SP-303 lying there next to you? :P )

*downs a few painkillers with a glass of scotch*

So how do they effect you?

most girls don't understand why I go to the record store everyday of the week. It's just that I make music everyday of the week, pretty much 7 hours a day.

Oh, most relationships failed cause' I smoke to much weed. Girls tend to hate that.

i don't tend to have emotional issues regarding gf/music, rather time-management issues.
music can be time consuming, and if i'm meant to be rushing off somewhere to meet my gf there's little incentive to 'have a jam' 'cos i know i'll get swept up in it and not want to leave.

that said, it's just a matter of balance and i seem to be slowly getting it right

what painkillers you taking?

bleh codeine...

Stronger opiates would be nice, but its for the best that I dont have access to that shit anymore.

I quit drugs for the sake of girls too, but since it didn't work out, I'm still in self-destruct mode. Nothing serious, just need time to escape, forget and get over it.

I'd much rather smoke some tree, but I cutoff all connections. . these days the only way I can get drugs is from the pharmacy or the legal highs shop (still not hopeless sources really.. psychedelics, dissociatives, depressants...almost the full range really, albeit it toned down a little)

As for the balance thing, I agree. . the problem is I'm kind of mildly/borderline obsessive.. Once I get one thing in my mind, its very hard to fit another in. I'm kind of feeling like I have to make a choice between relationships and music.. I'm already trying to juggle fulltime study with it as well.

yeah i hit the codeine hard after my first relationship broke up

have you tried a cold water extraction?
http://www.erowid.org/pharms/codeine/co ... html#using

works wonders with cleaning out the paracetamol, works with iboprofen too (so you can get that 12.8 mg out of Nurofen Plus)

it's a pity you can't just have a fat smoke though

^yeah man, nurofen plus cold water extraction.. the way to go!

But yeah, somethin about smoking is very different. .kind of activates you at the same time as sedating you.

I gotta admit I'm single most of the time, the whole time I'm single I'm like "Oh shit, I wish i had a girlfriend!"

But then I get one, and I'm like "Oh shit, I wish i was single again!" lol

After a while though, i just stopped trying, the next girl can come to me, I wanna concentrate on my creativity etc

And Bob Dylan said "I don't try to be happy, happiness is kind of a cheap word"

I reckon he's right.

Relationships can be like rollercoaster rides. I'm always gonna be in some form of relationship, Most of the ladies understand my passion for music. And they also understand that music gets alot of attention. But I'm not gonna neglect either one. You gotta balance everything out.

Now for me as a beatmaker/ producer, the mood that I'm in never really effected me either way, like if I'm angry the beat is agressive. That usually doesn't happen. The beats are gonna flow regardless. Now as far as writing, my homie Vic says that it effects him a lot, its hard to write raps when your upset. And then again, every writer has had a female as the subject of his songs  Peace, Duss.

I couldn't vote since none of those applied to me. I would never get involved with someone who does respect the fact that I'm totally absorbed when I get into music mode.

Inspirational, but only when its going good.

I sort of miss the option of; 'Inspirational, both in bad and good times.'

I'm definitely more inspired when in a relationship whether it's going good or bad doesn't quite matter so much. I just tend to make music in different styles then.

But I can also be very inspired when not in a relationship bút very much desiring a certain girl. I do think I'm least inspired when I'm single and not in a relationship, but love and relationships aren't my only source for inspiration.
