Raising the volume for a recorded sample - Sp 404
I have an sp 404 and I am able to record samples onto which ever I pad I choose and I have no issues with looping the sample to my liking. My question is - Once I have the sample recorded in and on a pad, how can I raise the volume for that sample to higher than what it was recorded in at?
I know how to lower the volume with the "star/end/level" sample edit button - while that is highlighted turn the ctrl 3 knob but I cant seem to raise the volume past the original recorded rate.
I would like to think there is a way to do this by re sampling or something like that. I supposse I can get better at getting an acurate level when I record in but it would be great to make this edit.
Any ideas?

you can also use the eq, i usually turn all the ctrl knobs to 12 o'clock if i just need a louder sample. isolator works as well.

the best thing to do to jsut boost a weak level is resample with the isolator and boost all 3 knobs evenly till u got it as loud as u need. then resample. Try to record your samples at highest volume possible w/o peaking and you shouldnt have to do this. Its better to record em loud and lower them to the needed level.

Agreed - Thanks for the feedback to all. By messing with the isolator, I was able to achieve the volume I wanted. In the future I plan on recording the samples in on the louder side for safe measure.
It is best to get the good signal to noise ratio when sampling as anything you do after to raise the volume also raises the noise floor and any noise that was in the sample as well. I have a compressor in between my tt and the sp 404 ( numark ttx built in line out to a alesis clx-440 ) I use a very light comp ratio 2:1 to just touch the sound and it also has a aural exciter built in to bring back some richness to older material as well. I find anything you can do outside of the box is best as once it hits digital any processing done to the sample has to recalculate and sometimes you end up with artifacts or a lower resolution. - I know this was already over i just wanted to add that for anyone who was also having a issuse.

Hey I know this is super old, but I have had the problem with being unable to raise sample volumes (I'm gonna try the Isolator trick, seems like that's supposed to work).
And like Solace here, I have a couple hardware compressors I could put between the source and my 404. (And I could even just use the makup-gain knob on it, without any comp at all.) Anyone else do this? One reason is that I have a CDJ-type player and for some reason even on full volume I don't get the clip button to light up. Is this normal? What the hell is that in the manual about not using "cords with resistors??"
Ya, i know, lots of q's...Thanks.
