Hey I am wondering what synthesizers you guys have found to integrate best with your SP's. I am trying to find a hardware/software synth that would work best with my 404sx.

I am presently using ableton synths and the Animoog iPhone app. I used my friends microkorg yesterday, really liked being more hands-on and being able to achieve a "fatter" quality in sound unlike the Ableton synths. If only hardware synths were cheaper... :(

When I actually hook it up, Alesis Micron is great. It's got it's own sequencer for shit or you can just play stuff live and it's super versatile. And cheap (big factor!)

You might also see it floating around as MiniAK. It's literally same hardware. Also cheap.

Korg monotron duo and delay and a yamaha dx27

I've also got a mutable instruments shruthi-1 which I haven't built yet, as well as two copies of LSDJ and one copy of pocket music for gameboy.

Haven't actually made much with my SP yet as I only got it a few weeks ago and I've been busy, but I've used them all in conjunction with my zoom Sampletrak and ableton live in the past

I cant get into my Micron. Ive had it for maybe 2 years...still cant love it. Programming patches is a pain. You use it for basslines mostly?

I borrowed a friends micron and it was pretty awesome. Borrowed my friends minimoog and that was incredible. I'd like to play with a mini/micro brute. My main synth though is a circuit bent Yamaha ps-360. Has some pretty crazy mangled sounds. I hear the volca beats are pretty great for the price though.

Yeah, mostly just for bass, but it sounds terrific to me. The menu diving has become much faster since I've done alot of patch creating. I'm really not that into synths anymore, mostly just sample manipulation. But someday I'd like to get a naturalistic synth module with some nice strings and piano patches...

better off with a 1/4 jack to RCA inputs imo....mic input isn't the best to run a synth through.

I'm one of the few ppl here who doesn't love the microkorg, i'd explore other options in that price range....

idk really, the quality between both isnt drastic enough to consider using one over the other(imo). The only good reason to use rca over 1/4 is if your synth has pan settings you wanna use..

as for the microkorg thing, the mininova synth looks like a good alternative, what got my attention at first was the pad buttons to quick change thru patches.. looks like its less of a pain in the neck to program patches aswell.

i doubt it would be the first synth id buy in that price range though, you can get much more for cheaper.
