Live looping for acoustic guitar

Hi all, so I bought an SP 555 hoping I could use it for simple live looping for my acoustic band (guitar, singer, occasional piano). Having played around with it, it doesn't look like it will do what I want - notably create loops on the fly without playback stopping.

But then I found this vid;

Any idea how he is managing to loop the bass live without stopping the playback?

he records everything using the loop capture. you can choose to loop 1, 2 or 4 bars (with the bpm that you have set) or record freely up to 15 seconds and overdub it as it loops (with rec button lit of course)
