When I resample with an effect, I lose volume.
This happens on my 303 and 808. Does anyone have any idea's as to what could be the problem?

weird. I know the 404 has its own volume level when you hit that sample/resample button, so you can adjust thing to not clip. Dont know about the 808 tho. I never ran into that issue. Which effects are you using, no loopers right. Some of the 808 effects like the synth effect doesnt make a sound. Some 808 compression effects like total comp, the one right next to the filter effect, needs adjusting cause it defaults to stupid. The others like dance eq and and all those in that group work normal.

If for example, i add reverb to a snare I lose volume, and a very noticeable amount at that.

If you have 2 samplers why aren't you just sampling back and forth into each other? Sure as hell sounds like better idea to me since you can overcome the resample poly limit.
My guess as to why it's a lower volume is that the internal limiter is kicking in.

thanks, i'll try and turn the limiter off if thats the case. I haven't been using the 303 with the 808 because I want to learn the 808 as a standalone instrument before combining it with synths and other samplers.

I reset the machine back to it's factory settings and it still does this. I can't re-sample twice without losing major quality.

hey, I have the same problem sometimes on the 404sx. It does this when I use isolator. Let's say I want to resample a sample filtered through Isolator. The main sample volume, which doesn't peak, gets lowered down a lot when resampled. And I get what you're talking about with the reverb. You'll have your main sample with the reverb on which sounds perfect, put the resample level at max, resample and lose the amplitude.Sucks... And it doesn't have anything to do with the effects limit setting nor the resampling level.

That's really weird, I've never had that problem. However, I am not trying to make everything as ungodly loud as possible. If you're having an issue, stop trying to peak everything from the get go. The more you layer sounds, the louder your track will get anyway. Make final track sample louder, not all individual pieces, if that makes sense.

Mine loses major headroom though. The equivalent of maybe turning the volume nob down by half.

And your blue display color isn't turning red while resampling either?fresh-produce wrote:Mine loses major headroom though. The equivalent of maybe turning the volume nob down by half.

You're right about the layering. I also noticed the opposite. I'll put isolator on a sample and it doesn't peak. I press "resample" "rec", record and the new sample is peaking!! Anyways, I'll just keep the levels lower. I'm just so used to normalize my samples, so they're always loud.
