So i was thinking
2008-2013 = that era of "glitch hop, post dilla, wonky, 8bit lo-fi shit
and i think that shit is dead in a way? Am i right? what you guys think?
I just started thinking about some of my synths i was playing around with and started going> these "nintendo, square,sine, spacey, future" sounds arent so fresh anymore. I.e they used to sound retro futuristic. but what do you call it when something retro futuristic is contemporary and then it gets played out?
just some random thoughts. what do you think?

First off...hated the term wonky.
I think the cliche version of music labeled wonky is kind of done.
I think the really good artists who got grouped into the label of "wonky" have persevered and are just appreciated for their original music. FlyLo, Samiyam, Jneiro Jarel, Teebs, Mndsgn, Knxwledge....alll great music and were never fit comfortably in that "wonky" box.
I still like Nintendo samples if done right.

Was it ever really an era? Dilla worship's as fashionable as ever, chiptune's here to stay & the name wonky never really fit one style it was applied to. A problem with the name is it gets applied to producers living in very different places who came up in different scenes.
You really couldn't say both Rustie (from Glasgow) & Teebs (from LA) are part of the same genre but they both get called wonky all the time. Worst thing is the name fits in both cases, so the genre name works for what isn't really a genre.
But if the era of wonky's over, what's the new style heads are feeling? Trap? That genre needs some variety before it disappears up its arse (if I wanna listen to a TNGHT beat, I'll listen to TNGHT not everyone else).
