"autochop-like" way of playing pads... not 'gate'

Hi guys,

Is it possible to play the pads in exactly the same way as you can whilst still being previewing the autochop?

As many might know when previewing the autochop you can play pads in 'shot' style, bút when hitting other pads it will stop the previously hit pads.

Is there any way to make a pattern this way? It's not quite possible using 'alternate' since I need 'shot' so I can trigger some pads fast behind eachother, but I don't quite need 'shot' because that will make the sample play until it's finished, it won't stop like in the preview mode of autochop (before you either [cancel] or [exec]).

Perhaps there's a trick or workaround to get this kind of action still?

No trick! The 606 has mute groups

Simply go into sample parameters and set all the samples to the same mute group and they'll chop each other off

Thanks that's exactly what I was looking for!

edit: Too bad it doesn't cut the pad of if you trigger one pad from the same mute group twice or more times. DJ-skipping like stuff can't quite be done this way, unless you hit an empty sample at nearly the same time or so.


Edit2: Problem solved! The trick is setting the pad to [mono] instead of [poly] together with the same mute group. This really is great, it opens a new way of making songs.

I should have told you that.... mono makes all the difference.

Try making a monosynth! Awesome for basslines - I make almost every bassline that way
