my personal favorites are: MFX 12 compressor (finally found out how to use it on drums) Vinyl Sim, EQ, Reverb, Subsonic and the lo-fi to make bugged out drum hits.

i've had my Effect Limit Mode on lately (hold Cancel and MFX to toggle on/off). some of the 404's effects can get a bit shrill (especially the filter), so having the Limiter on restrains the crazy peaks some effects will create

i think i mentioned this somewhere else but i like boosting the feedback on an effect till it almost hurts, then switching on limiter at the last minute. makes a nice "whew..." feel.

Yeah the limiter is cool, your ears and speakers will thank you for using it. :-)

not an actual limiter, just the function which 'limits' the gain on the effects...so you don't deafen yourself/flood the rest of the beat

if you record sine waves with chorus, and then more chorus and more chorus, it sounds like crystal castles. yeh i rule.

But my favorite has to be Reverb. A love, like... I dunno, I really love waves of sound. Not trance or Yanni-like synth (I usually find both to be pretty boring), but, like... Listen to the Feels album by Animal Collective. F'ing packed with reverberation.

I agree.

I just got this thing but so far I'd say I like reverb the best. Then vinyl sim and then djfx

amazing things you can do with reverb.
hit the feed back all the way to the right
delay all the way to the left
then the sound will swell and swell and swell
just when you think you reached climax pull down feedback
and there you are again with your sound

ring modulator can turn a guitar into a theremin if you wave a battery around the pickups.
