I think BOSS/Roland effects are great and the main reason to pick-up an SP. I would like to see the effects expanded and possibly the use emulation like Tenochtitlan mentioned, SP303 compression, SP202 bit crusher.

Another thing about the SP series is that they are not intimidating and fairly straight-forward, ease of use. However, my SP experience is solely limited to the 303 and I currently do not own any SP... as the average going price still remains high.

The effects are likely the most agreed-upon best feature of the SPs!

In addition to other things mentioned:
*Thinner design with an adjustable/tilted screen (kinda thinking a calculator look).

*Phantom power input
*Software editor that includes a converter for old formats (ie. SP303/SP505, etc.) to .wav

Take the 505 then do the following:

SD card support
Expand sample memory
Faster interface
Turntable style pitching
Add 2 track to sequencer but make them audio tracks, not sequencers
BPM memory
Non-destructive beat slicing
Update effects

Done. Perfect groove box.

505 is perfect, just add extra 4 parts for sequencer and 8 outs, BOOM!

i agree, but i'd throw another 10 voices of polyphony on there to make it even better.
