asking roland to add features to the 404sx

I was thinking the other day how the sx is still in production and still kind of newish, compaired to a lot of old equipment that gets used around here by our types,
so isnt it better to try and ask rolands sx team for a few features before its out of production and old?
All this box needs in my opinion is a proper pitch tuning affect which could probibly be done by modifing that dj something or other fx cant remember the name now..
And the abillity to resample a pad and an external source at the same time like the 303 does.
I would think this wouldnt be too difficult to do,
This would make the sx an all in one box for me personally.

lol just buy the other gear/samplers that does what you would like the 404sx to do... resampling with external source.. how bout resampling to another sampler?

your biggest vote is with your money. paying for incomplete gear decreases their motivation to improve a product that you'd be shelling out cash for anyway....

Their perspective: why should we upgrade when you already paid?

I voted for the SX with my cash because of the SD card use. I think that Roland wouldn't just add a few small tweaks to the effects or recording chain to the existing device but save it for another update to the 404 line like the SX was to the OG.

What does SX stand for anyways? What's next for the 404?

I already do this with the 202 and s20 and tape decks too but its a bit of a hassle, if the sx could do these 2 simple things i wouldnt need the other stuff.
I agree with the vote with your money thing but maybe they arnt even aware that people want these features, maybe this could be a labour of love for one of the programers like the jjos guy for the mpc, id even pay a bit for these features.

^Exactly. Roland's gotta know a market exists before designing (let alone selling) a new sampler.

Basically I'd love to see another portable SP. One with 16 pads, turntable pitch, more voices, more FX, better filters (HPF, LPF & BPF) & a 4 track sequencer.

Sounds like u r describing a 555 minus 4 track and turntable pitch.

There u go roland 555 sx add 4 track and true pitch. That would b perfect. And some of those 606 effects. 606 compression. My fav.
How about meld this shit together from 555 606 to make the SP-666. That would b really perfect.

Forgot to say that the battery setup needs to be those little watch batteries that never die. Not gonna be unrealistic about this either. Skip AAs & Ds, they're too expensive. If we need to power it with 3 of them to get a decent 35 hours of use, so be it.

those little battery don't have the capacity to run a 404. a AA battery holds 1000mah approx and a c2032 (classic small button) hold like 180 mah, you'd need 6 of these to replace 1 AA!!!!

3 cellphone battery pack would be way better, actually 6 AA are fine. get rechargables!

I rreally do hope Roland actually do step up and make a new SP. Korg are absolutely destroying Roland these days, look how popular the the Monotrons, Monotribes have been. And has anyone seen the new Voclcas? Just basically Mini copies of the TB303 bassline and the TR808 drum machine, both Roland products!

It jus really makes me sad to see Roland step back and watch all this happen and do nothing about it. Surely there's some money to be made in this side of the market? How many of these Dibiase, Jonwayne, Samiyam, stonesthrow, Brainfeeder style guys use the 404 and 404SX? loads of them!

I know native instruments have the laptop performance thing covered with al their traktor controllers and maschines and stuff but there is still a huge amount of musicians that dont want to take a laptop on stage. I honestly believe a beefed up version of the 404 with a few extra featres would sell huge.

Do Roland employees never visit these forums? A whole community based on their products?

Or maybe they just dont care anymore. I reckon just give Korg another 6 months and they'll have an SP killer unfortunately. They are on fire at the minute.
