Resample vs pattern

Post by richiedinero »

Hey guys,

Since I got the 303 I've been doing a lot research on the sp 303 part of the forum on various work flows and it seems like there is two schools of thought on beat building wanted to know who prefers pattern mode style beat building over the resample method ?

I think is a really subjective / personal choice.
It's quite obvious the differences if you have played a bit with the sp. normaly the main idea for the resampling tecnique is use the sp as a tape recorder, so in this way u just over dubbing. It depends on the song. I would say that resampling is when you feel really raw, and sequencer is for the times that u need more precision.

It boils down to personal preference, for me I think pattern mode gives you more control over the beat, changing volumes and tempo etc but it takes more time and effort. Resample is quick and raw but once its recorded there's no scope to edit it. It really depends how I@m feeling at that moment.

99 bar technique is like resample but you can edit, swap samples, mix, etc.
