help please

every time im working on a pattern and begin adding new sounds the sounds that were previously on the pattern stop when i put in a bass or other sounds it is really frustrating can anyone help

sounds like you've run out of polyphony
resample some of the sounds into mono
and it should work

Yep, mono samples are your friend especially for drum hits and (sub) bass notes. You can always breath some 'life' in them by assigning them to an Fx of your liking while your pattern is playing (don't resample though 'cause that will either make em stereo samples again or if you resample to mono it will take out thhe 'room' again).

thanks, so how do you resample the sounds in mono on the sp 404

1. Hit the pad you want to resample.
2. Hit RESAMPLE. If you want to apply an effect, activate it now.
3. Adjust the volume of your resampled sample with the CTRL 3 knob.
4. Hit REC.
5. Hit an empty pad (it will blink) to select the destination. You can select a different pad bank if you want.
6. If the STEREO button is lit, hit it again to turn it off and make the new sample mono.
7. Hit REC.
8. Hit the pad you want to resample. Note that you can hit multple pads and have them stacked/bounced together on the destination pad.
9. Hit REC again when you're done. Trim as necessary.

Now if you're interested in making a mono sample into stereo that has some nice spaciousness without making it too wierd (i.e. too much flange, reverb, etc.), then I can hook you up with that.
