on the 2nd example 'sans titre 2' it sounds like the last snare in the loop is too early (or the triple kick before it is too late). i think that's all he was trying to say.. but it sounds fine to me. maybe just a little more subtlety with the offbeat-ness would be more effective. it doesn't always have to be so blatantly 'off'
Sometimes just keeping just one element 'locked' and letting other drum parts and rhythmic sfx play around that lock can lead to interesting things...
i.e. the snare is locked or the first kick of a measure is locked, and everything just does what it does...as long as it loops enough to allow people to feel what you're doing. If it changes all the time, then there's no groove and even a kick won't save it. If you're gonna be abstract and still groovy, I think you need to at least keep coming back to a point of reference to reassure someone they're nodding their head correctly.

With all due respect- read our posts carefully and try to really expand your understanding of what we are saying.
As for your latest links, I think your own beats so far are more interesting than those- they (the beats in the links you sent) don't impress me at all. Just keep doing your thing, you are on the right track and like I said- i actually like your sounds and beats more than any of the links you have sent thus far.

i dont know much about swing and shuffle rythihms , but i owned a mc 505 and made dark egyption swing techno, I saved it on the 505 so maybe someone jams to it, after psytrance1. yo just kidding I didn't notice anyone talk about how grabbing a delay can shuffle your drums up pretty nice, sync it to triplets and grab it once in a while. 606 has no grab so i dunno what to do. for more shuffle here.

oh ya man great point! I forget how much fun the BPM synced delay is on my ES-1. You can do it with any delay but is easier with delays that have sync and presets. Def something to know about and experiment with! C
