Arranging tracks

I'm looking for a programme whereby I can arrange my samples into full tracks. At the moment I use the resample method for everything but I wanted something where I could use the resample method as a rough draft and then maybe have the samples in small boxes where I can just drag them around until I get an arrangement of sequences I'm happy with. I've tried ableton but DAAAYAM..I just cant figure it out, just when i thought I had it cracked, my samples started drifitng in and out of time. The 404 bpm display didnt seem to fit in when I tried it in ableton.
I love the resample method but the tracks never sound 'complete' or well mixed. Any other programmes might be worth trying?

Sounds like Garageband would fulfill your needs.

have you tried the 99 bar technique? you could play out your samples live without quantize, similar to the resample method, but then still be able to track out into a daw (like the aforementioned garageband).

FL Studio is perfect for this. all you have to do is record in and then you can drag and drop wav files on the sequencer.

Any music production software of your choice will enable you to record into seperate multiple tracks and then edit to your liking, and give you mixing options.

Some free ones are Audacity and Reaper.

ProTools is a good buy.

+1 for Reaper. Cheap and has some good tools built in and you can get more tools if you want that integrate into it.

ardour is the best, it is worth it to install linux just for a aurdor recorder.

Also I have not used Acid in years but that program is awesome for chopping and arranging. I might actually load it up again the chopping feature is ridiculous.

I thought of Ableton right away when you mentioned blocks- maybe you could sort out the settings and make it work for you if you already have it.

Reaper is free though and only like $40 or $60 to buy (I bought it- soooo worth it)

record/load your samples into Edison
Set the right tempo (sp bpm) and first downbeat. Check your snap settings in Edison and the playlist.

Now drag x drop each segment on it's own track.

From there on it's easy arranging.

I think there's a bunch of programs you can use for this. I feel like its all about choice and opinion though. How deep do you wanna get into it?
Do you just wanna track out your patterns to the program or were you looking to edit specific bars and measures?
I'm currently using ableton live 8.02 to track most of my sp beats.
And Let me tell you... Ableton is great!

idk about others...but i have been using Studio one...its a Presonus program...i've tried Reaper...but it just didnt sound right to me...i guess i had the bootleg... But yeah Studio One is dope...for me atleast.

mate you need to make sure that you take warp off... then it will all be in time. stick with ableton man

Never checked out studio one, is it free?
Reaper is free and you pay on honor system, just a brief nag screen on any unpaid version. I like how you can make a portable install and also version for Mac, pc, Linux.
