Stiff buttons

Is this natural on a 606, sometimes I have to press pretty hard to access certain functions. Is there anything I can do to fix this or is this a diagnosis for something bad?.

Buttons are pretty stiff on both my 606s. Perfectly responsive though, have you tried the pad utility [func+9]? Sensitivity can be adjusted there.

thanks its not the pads which need to be adjusted just the buttons are pretty stiff and it seems more like they're dying.

It's common problem for used 606's, you could try a cleaning contact spray

cheers dumb question but do I need to open it up to use the spray?

liking the 606 so far, there's more button presses than I like to access stuff but its easy to use. I skimmed the manual but managed to sample, resample, make a beat and apply effects easily.

Yeah, it would be best to open and spray.

Its a dope sampler, I'm making my next album on it too. The sound is warm. Gonna make a vid on how to flip it into a lone studio piece soon.

Just got the 606 about a month ago, took me a while to figure out all
the menus and screens, I really wanted to hop in like i run the place
but turns out you really need to learn this one before expecting to make
a song. The things I kept getting stuck on was full memory errors, so
I figured out how to wipe the factory data, now I can do whatever I want,
I found out if you resample your LOFI or long, back to hifi with fx, you
will get a way more awesome sound, I'll try to stay on topic though about
the sticky buttons, I got mine in mint condition, and the buttons are
really clicky and loud, not shure if this is good but notice you can save
their life by holding it down instead of clicking it for some things.
The pads are the best I've ever felt for an sp sampler, best for live drumming.

the knobs were super tight and hard to turn when I first got it, then
I took one off and switched it with my old 404 knob now its all loose
and bendy, so watch out for that, the knobs loosen up after a few twiddles.
one thing that tripped me out is NO GRAB!

On my tascam, the stop button is really hard to click down, unless you
point it at a certain angle, so maybe it just needs some cleaning, I remember
on the 404, buttons would act up, so I opened it and realined the contacts
and it works fine.

I had the same issue, also it regulary double triggered some pads, so i disassembled mine and cleaned it with contact spray, no it works better again.
To prevent any dust getting into the system, i always put a towel over the 606 while it isn't in use.

YO, I'm tripping of and kinda pissed at these
plastic clicky buttons. wtf , 2 months at my workstation
and my stop button dies. well i have to wiggle it for 20 seconds
and it stops. maybe got some hash resin in there, or what.
how come they never used rubber buttons, the 404 and 555
and darn near indestructable, you would think the 606 could be
too, now i gotta take my 606 apart, and it's brand new.
don't think it's a defect, isnt there machines to test, to see
how many times you push a button till it breaks, these things
are built like tanks, im just wondering why there would be such
a mechanical fail on a flagship unit.
