Thx hseiken, I expect to be pretty good as I am more or less a master of the ES-1 so should not be too hard. Bummed the 555 does not recall pattern BPM like the 404SX though- (as in the 404 does NOT store BPM per pattern either- does the 606? 808?)

The ESX-1 came with 2 broken knobs from shipping and the 555 came with faulty CF card and an old AC power supply not DC.

The knobs are broken or missing caps? You can buy replacement caps on the ultra cheap or even just change them all. I know people that put 'retro knobs' on their units.
Also if it was damaged in shipping, it's the responsibility of the seller pack the item correctly. If a unit is packed correctly, shipping won't harm the unit.
