Recommend Some Tape Recorders
I have been looking in to getting a new cassette recorder to add some character to my beats and samples.Does anyone have any recommendations?
Re: Recommend Some Tape Recorders
Also can you record the headphone out on the sp into the mic input on a cassette recorder(one of the portable voice ones)....or is that not a good idea??
Re: Recommend Some Tape Recorders
just go to good will and cop any cheap Realistic tape recorder for under 9 bucks....or a tascam portastudio which will run you 40 to $200 depending on who you cop it from...
Re: Recommend Some Tape Recorders
Tascam Portastudio 424 is one of the best

Use a Sony Walkman WM-DC6. It's expensive though. I snagged one fairly cheap when I had some extra dough. It's a tough mother fucker and can sound as good or as dirty as you want it to.

On used market I am seeing dictation machines w/ standard and micro cassette sizes that also have speed controls. nice.

If you can afford it, buy an old nagra.
Re: Recommend Some Tape Recorders
I have a 414MK2 and I was really surprised on how nice it is. What I would suggest is to buy something that is not too old coz then it broke and you can't fix it or it's too expensive, just have to find something that is new enough and still have character (otherwise just use a computer...).
