Lol, I clicked on this thread thinking it would be a bunch of dudes dissing mpcs, but it seams cats are trying to diss you for hating on it
I've had the 2000, 2000xl and 1000. I like the Xl the best but yeah, it took too long to get something done. Loved the pads and for dropping drum loops they're shit hot. But I hate how long it takes to chop. Never named shit so that was never an issue. I really miss being able to modulate a samples sustain rate with velocity. You could get some crazy mad realistic hats with that!
Unfolding I get what you're saying. I think it all comes down to preference. The reason why I chose my 555 over the 2000xl is because I've always liked experimental music. I love the effects and I love the fact that i can chop my samples quick and get very creative with it. With the mpc going through all those menus to load and chop samples made it feel more like work instead of just having fun and making music. The mpc does have great sequencing and quantization though. but yea I think it just comes down to what you're comfortable or like using. I would actually like to have one just for drums but for right now I'm good with the 555.

i like mpcs but at this point i'd rather just use a DAW for that type of workflow, faster and easier, and to me more fun. sps have that fun factor mpcs lack.

The 606 is nothing like an MPC, more like the 505's distant brother. Only thing "MPC like" is the positioning of the 16 pads, mute groups, velocity pads and pattern chaining. Cock should be sucked for such blasphemy.

Yeah it's cool that was a quick reply I didn't see the My bad on jumping the defensive gun. I actually used nothing but the 606 for a few years. Another thing is when ya can have all them samples with the CF card I kinda go overboard on sample hoarding and never get around to using half of them. That what I like about the sp12 is you only have 5 seconds so it forces you to make due. The sound of them is what most people rave about but as an sp12 owner and former 1200 owner I can say I've heard roland sp beats that sound just as good in some cases better.
