Muting patterns into the SP555 - solution

Post by LeeSP »

Might be a useful tip...lets see.....

I have an sp555 in a live midi set up including a roland mc303, novation nova and electribe er1 (ea1 on the way) :D

I have a love hate relationship with the sp by the way....it is currently out of the set up because i have fallen out with it, but hey....anyway...when we have made up it will return no doubt....

I noticed that people have been trying to work out how to mute patterns so that the sp555 keeps running in sync with everything but the sp doesnt spit out any sound. Easy way to resolve that is to record a sample or copy one to another pad then turn the pad volume to zero. Then record a sequence using the silent sample. Then just select it when playing patterns and the sp stays in sync....not quite muting but it works.

Hope that helps.

Here is a bit of a step by step:

1. Record or copy a sample to a pad
2. Change the pad volume to 0 (so the pad is silent when you hit it)
3. Go into pattern mode and record a pattern using the silent pad

Now when you select the pattern when the sequencer is playing the SP will continue to loop but you just get silence.

Hope this helps
