Akai's mini sampler

It's cute, has 8 pads, and if it's cheap, might be a good way for SP users to have some extra pads to sample and make beats with. Just wish I knew the price!

Price is 99$ or 99€.

You can import samples only with the SD card, no Line-In.

Well, like I said, I'm sure it's a cheap way to get some extra pads if it's even needed. It looks like the size of a small car stereo, and even if it's not a traditional sampler, the fact that it can at least load and perform 8 samples is I guess it's selling point. Hell, I'm sure any owner of the Korg Volcas wouldn't mind having it play some samples to its beats/bass/synth. But only having reverb as an effect is obviously where it's going to come up short, and you got to expect some limits for such a small price point.

It does look nice from the angle of someone who doesn't own a sampler & just wants a few one-shots for a gig. Liking how the USB power can be via computer or a wall wart too.

But I doubt folks like us could ever justify picking one up. Save a few more weeks/months & get a 2nd hand 303 for the same number of pads, sequencer & effects. Still the more products like this the better, means that certain music companies might actual pay attention to the market. *ahem* Roland where are you?!

Yah it's weird there's no input on this machine. I'd love for a mini pocket sampler with 8 pads. I'm waiting to get my hands on a yamaha su10, we will see how that goes. Akai seems to have good ideas, but they go half ass on execution.

 My, how hypercitical against Akai/Roland are we? If that's the case, why do you use SP's?

Same reason I wear a pair jeans for a week, because its comfy and does what it does. No need for name brand idoltry. Osh Kosh could've made the SP and I wouldn't care, as long I can sample and flip, then thats the tool.

Unless you feel content with your V-Accordian collection that Roland been serving, I can't see any evolution in the groove production dept.

It's no sp, but it's got some nifty things that can be done with it. If I had $100 to burn, I'd buy one.
