anyone messed with the akai remix 16?

Post by skinny.b »

I got one of these beasts off my next door neighbour and it's a behemoth from about 1996. It's the first time I've messed with a two sampler setup and it's the most fun i've had since buying my OG404. I've got them linked up with via the outs and ins but not sure if this is great for the samplers, aleady had some horrific feedback incidents by forgetting to unplug things when sampling from one to the other. Basically though it's great using two samplers, not looking at a computer screen at all, and i've decided to not focus on output at all for a few months while i learn this new setup. Massive props to you guys who make music this way, it's like going right back to square one for me! But the fun I'm having jamming out on the SP and Remix 16 is pay off enough, hopefully i'll make something noteworthy a few months down the line!!

i still got this machine. it's my second sampler (the first one was the yamaha su10), i bought it in 1996. i got a video on my youtube channel with the remix16. I haven't bought the memory bar; Maybe i'm wrong, but there is somewhere (maybe check the other gear section) a thread about it.
what i like:
the sound, pitch, crossfade, reverse, messin with start point live (when it's midied); i djed many times with this machine alone and a cd player in early 2000s...
now sometimes floppy discs don't work well very often...
ps
another cat, named RP (or also boombapp28), got this machine

awesome man, i've only been messing with it for about two weeks but i'm absolutely loving it! yeah the pitch seems out of this world, haven't played with everything yet but it seems capable of a lot! i'm loving using it to chop samples from the SP, way quicker than setting start/end points and all that, and it's nice to spread out over the pads of both samplers, much less messing about going from bank to bank!
