Will this type of CF 1gb card work with sp-606?

Post by Acrobatics 1on1 »

Does anyone now for sure will San Disk or Sony 1gb Compact Flash card work with SP-606? As I hear only some 1gb cards work with sp-606. Is SanDisk or Sony's one of them? Apparently these are only brands of 1gb cards left avaliable in my town. Help!

I wouldn't take the chance and look for a 512Mb card instead, even if this means buying them from the internet.... the 1Gb compact flash cards that I have tested all did not work at all. A Scan Disk compact flash card included, the other one was a Dane Elec.

yes, it only reads 512, but since 512 cards are hard to find, perhaps some 1GB or 2 GB cards will work (even though the machine will use only 512 MB), right...?

Unfortunately nope, it can't handle any 1Gb or up cards, as soon as a card has more memory than 512MB the SP-606 software simply won't know if the card is any good and rejects it by default. It just doesn't recognize them.

Unless Roland makes some sort of firmware upgrade to solve this in the future, 1Gb or 2Gb is not ever going to work.

thanks for the clarification. guess we're stuck buying a 512 MB from GC for $50, when Fry's has got a 4 GB card on sale for $10...

how hard could it be for ROLAND to update the software...?
