Sp-606 And Reason 4.0?

Post by jay843 »

Is there a way that I can use reason 4.0 as a sound module? ( Like the motfis or the famton or triton ) If so how?

You can sample from reason to use its sounds in the 606.... I dunno what you mean?

You can run Reason through the 606 to use the 606 FX in realtime - cool as

Please explain what you wish to do

No worries -

You can't record into Reason (it doesn't allow for audio recording) but cubase, no probs..

I'm assuming you know how to use Cubase (I don't, I use Sonar) - but set up a track to record audio.

Use USB to connect the 606 to the comp (digital connection means no noise), and go into [menu] to set the USB audio to "mix".

Hit record in Cubase, and play on the 606.

Trim up your audio capture and away you go.... repeat for aech track. 8)

In theory, yes. In practise, it's hard.

For example, I have gotten the 606 transport to control Acid now worries, but it wont talk to Reason AT ALL... so I dunno about Cubase.. it all depends on how you set midi up in Cubase.

If you just want to record your actions you can try a Linux based distribution like 64sudio*LiveCD(It's a 700MB download!).It is free, you can run it booting your PC from cd (no installation)...the programm you want is Rosegarden and it can record even the effect value on/off..!The drawback in this case is that the usb port of the 606 is used only for midi...if you try this tell me!

TRANSPORT CONTROLS WILL WORK W/ REASON!!!!

it can be done what u have to do is:

hit func then pad 11(midi util) on your sp

make sure SYNC source is set to usb
then sync mode on INT (standard) and Tx Midi sync is ON.
Tx midi sync is your transport controls.

open reason go to preferences and select
KEYBOARDS and CONTROL SURFACES. do a scan to make sure reason recognizes it .

go one step further to ADV Control and look @ the 2nd box label MIDI CLOCK SYNC and select roland sp 606.

then close that box open the OPTIONS tab @ the top and select SYNC
then change it to midi clock

then u fuckin set muthaphucka! lol nah when u look @ reason the tempo should read all 0000000000000 and be lit green. hit play on your sp and ur freakin set.

if u wanna do external seq sampling make the sp your sound card and open up menu, select feature 4 usb audio and change output to mix and turn input switch on.

make a 4 or 8 bar loop to test then bang out. only problem is the amount of voices.... but ive already laced u w/ too too much lol

love EL JEFE
