I put an old Panasonic boombox in between my instruments and 404. Then I can play along with patterns and record the noodling on cassette. Sift through the results and sample to apad. Instant multitrack.

Nothing.

Gotta keep that sound raw. SPs are great at colouring sound their own way. Why not have an SP beat that sounds like an SP (ie- digital)?

I use preamps and EQs my whole life, but I've been heavily experimenting on my SP-606 and the sound is crisper without the extra boost. I just connect my NDX400 cdj to it and thats it. SPs can eq the incoming signal anyway. But you'll still need a preamp for mics.

Yah it has stereo line in. It's a super dope Walkman..... They cost about $160 tho :( You most likely have to find one on eBay since they haven't been produced for a while.

I agree 100%

I use the 404 and 202 to color sound even when I'm not using the sp to make a beat.
