303 Buzzing Help

My 303 makes a frequent loud buzzing noise when plugged in and turned on, whether samples are playing or not. I'm not using the original adapter, I'm using this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/9-VOLT-POWER ... OU:AU:1123

The 303 makes the buzz both when the RCA outs are connected straight to my home stereo, and when I run them through an interface. I've tested different cables with no success.

Interestingly, if I put a stereo jack > 2xRCA cable in my laptop's stereo line out, and use one of the tips of the RCA outs to touch the metal RCA out's on the 303, it sometimes greatly reduces the buzzing (but I can't just hold it there and would need to tape it down, and I don't really want to have to do that).

Could it be the adapter? I rang Boss and that's what they thought was most likely, advising I buy a replacement directly from them (for $100.00!) The whole unit only cost me $200.00, and came with the supply, I just lost it unfortunately.

Anyone have any tips??? It's really friggin annoying!

I would guess that something else that is electronic with a power source near your set-up is inducing the unwanted signal noise, but I'm not certain. Your remedy seems to imply that the noise may be reduced by you touching one of your rca connections because it is being grounded a little more through the sampler frame. Again, I'm not certain and don't want to circulate bad info so anyone feel feel to elaborate or correct my guesses. Have you tried using the grounding screw according to the procedure described in the manual? This might remedy your issue or improve the signal flow. This may be an interesting read for folks regarding electromagnetic fields.

I'm not sure what you're referring to here, and I couldn't find anything in the manual about a 'grounding screw'. Can you explain please?

Nevermind, I was incorrect. I always assumed one of the screws on the back was a ground for a turntable connection.

it helps me sometimes if I unplug the chargers to my laptops, and unplug all inputs except my sound source.

probably not the reason but check your mic line input knob and put it to the left if it's not. it could bzzzz from that too

buzzing could be anything. i'd try unplugging everything but the sampler and your speakers and see if that helps anything first, with all the levels on the sampler turned down, then you can see if it is the grounding or the machine itself.

I have the same issue. When I plug my record player into my SP. If I unplug the red rca cable it goes away. I was thinking that it's my phono preamp, because if I recall, it doesn't buzz if I plug the turntable directly into the SP. But of course, then the volume would be too low...My workaround is just EQing the lows out.

Sounds like a ground loop-are you using a power strip? If so, try one of those 3 prong to 2 prong adapters and see if it goes away. Those 3/2 prong adapters are really a bad idea as you have no grounding but good to troubleshoot.
