Beat making documentarys?

Post by L.C.W »

I love watching documentarys in my down time, I know there lots about hip hop in general and mc'ing and scratching. But can anyone recommend any beat making documentarys?

Deep Crates 1 and 2! I think it's more crate digging/beatmaking rather than only beatmaking but they're really dope documentaries though!

You guys have probably seen it but Scratch is dope. Not beat making but Dave Chappelles Block Party is the shit. Oh and check out Fuse Crate Diggers on youtube.

Beat Kings is a good one. Funny coincidence to see this thread. I just stopped the Tribe Called Quest doc, Beats Rhymes & Life, halfway through because it made me want to start on my battle beat.

i just remembered secondhand sureshots. the premise is that 4 beat makers get five bucks each, pick 5 thrift records, and make a beat using those records only. j rocc, ras g, nobody, and daedalus are the beat makers. a small glimpse at everybody's process and space, plus it appeals to any of us that dig at thrift shops. oh, and j rocc totally cheats by using the syl johnson different strokes break, which made me like him even more.

Behind Closed Doors and Secondhand Sureshots are very good.

The documentary West Coast Theory is not as good as the other ones, but good entertainment.

Another great one is "1000yen Beats Vinyl Attack", japanese version of secondhand sureshots. :D

Check your PM. ;)

If anybody else want to see the documentary with eng sub PM me. I don't want to post the link in public, because I'm afraid youtube will remove the video from my channel.
