Question about hte EQ on the 404...

How does it work? Are the 3 controls on the top just like low boost, mid boost , and hi boost?

can you control like what frequency you want to boost or is it just like a set amount?

yeah they are set frequencies. One day I should compare it to my analog EQ and figure out what freq is being controlled or maby there is an easier way.

if I cant EQ it the way i want with the eq function then I try useing EQ and/ or the isolator.

I just mix my stuff with the isolator and then if there's something I want to fix I'll just compress the sound then eq it with a 30 band eq in the computer on some later date.

the isolator is effectively a killswitch for each frequency zone. if you turn it all the way down, no sound in that zone will be heard

the eq is not as brutal, and is more useful for subtle tweaking.

between them, you can clean up most things

I think a good explanation of the difference between the Equalizer and the Isolator would be: the Equalizer adjusts the volume of the frequencies, and the Isolator adjusts the presence of the frequencies. That may sound kinda vague, but uh... I think it makes sense.

And yeah, combining both correctly is a great way to fine-tune your samples.

I'd be willing to bet that the [ISOLATOR] also effects the freqs in more of a 'block' style. Moving big chunks, with a really steep curve. Whereas the [EQ] effects the freq spectrum with more of a slope that accelerates as you turn the knobs.
