record your mix to 404 then bounce to pc w/ compact flash ?

Post by LesPasta »

just curious, I know some people do it and some don't...

I've made some beats on the 404 that were completely finished. Just drop them into a daw to loop it/set the length..

I'm thinking about recording jams from my 505/4track/other devices into the 404 for final touches and then bounce to cf

what are your thoughts on that ?

been doing that forever. in a tape recorder, and lately in my MS1 on long 1 setting.

gives me about 2:45 of recording time ahaha.

I mean, if what you wanna hear is, does it make a difference, well obviously. Depending on what your record it on, it's gonna give certain flavour.

also, every take is slighty different is you live play everything.

thanks rabat

so you're recording your mixes onto a 404 ? from the tape recorder and the MS-1 or are you telling me that you're recording your final mixes onto a tape recorder and an MS-1 ? I would definitely like to hear more about what you got going on

I'm also interested in hearing if anyone has anything in to say particularly about recording your final mix onto a 404og

I don't have OG 404, but I'm super lazy sometimes and definitely will avoid busting out my US122 to record live from the 404. I'll bounce to tape then back into 404SX and just load up the SD card into my audio editor and run a quick 10 band EQ and master limiter on it. Again it's out of laziness.

For super analog sound, I'll route the 404 through the ESX's tubes, saturated a lil bit then into my tape recorder, also hot to saturate a lil bit then resample the tape.

Yeah, the Korg. I do need to get some more high end tubes at some point, though. First I was too lazy, now I'm too poor!

I have a 404sx. I build everything in it. When my song/samples are prepared, i plug the 404sx into theroland ms1 and sample what i play out of the 404sx. My final song is now in the ms-1, i then resample it with eq in the 404sx

hs what are some good options for tubes on a budget ?

How about workarounds ? I've heard of some heads using old receivers

honestly I don't know. My guess would be getting small stereo practice amps. I've seen some at thrift shops and swap meets for super cheap. Just make sure they have 2 input channels that can be panned.
