im nearly 100% sure he uses an OG 404, so im presuming thats the compression that he uses. there is compression evident in every song, no idea what synth he uses though id love to know though

To me, it just sounds like good sampling, raw loose feel + his own mix methods. Style is what gives it it's flavor, not gear.

it doesn't sound lofi to me, just sounds like he cut up vinyl samples.

and from what ive gathered he mainly uses ableton to make his shit.

in this matter gear isn't really a factor. it's creative thinking/sample choice that gets him his sound and years of constantly making music. good taste is also a factor.

I also was wondering about his sound. I only know that he was using OG 404 (but it was some time ago), OP 1 and Ableton Live. There was a video, in which you could see a SP for a moment. Choose a dope sample, make a clean mix, compress it hard (peak controler should be blinking as fucked up), add some magic and voila.


Latest releases are different than previous. He don't fuck with EQ so much now.
