OUT PROBLEM

yo sp fam, i've got a problem, i put a song in my sp (who 's correctly pan) and when i want to record with my soundcard (with ableton) the right & left side are differents...

Do you think it's my sp's out have a problem ? or my cables ? (it's not my soundcard because when i record directly from the microkorg or the kaossilator the levels are correct)


ps: do you notice a pan problem when you listen my beats ?!

You mentioned pan and levels which are two different things. When you track your beat into ableton from your sp, are you saying the left and right volume levels change or the panning of stereo effects/instruments are being altered?
Have you tried another set of cables?

my left output is always louder than the right output. realized it with audacity.
too lazy to check out which shit is doing this in my setup.. 'muricafuckyeah

Make sure the cable is not stereo to mono, make sure your input on the pc is not set to mono, try recording with another software like audacity to make sure it's not abletons settings

I have never been sure about some of this stuff, for instance will stereo rca to 3.5mm line cable retain stereo imaging? Now I just use rca to rca between my 303 and 404sx than export the wav file or rca to 1/4 on my audio interface, but I always worried about losing some stereo sounds when I recorded rca to 3.5mm line jack on my laptop.

It works, just make sure the male 3.5 is stereo (has two horizontal bands). I use one often

Sorry for the confusion, when i track my beat into ableton from my sp the left and right volume change/ left and right have not the same sound , 1 side is more low ,hit better than the other ,so even if i compensates with the pan, the 2 sides are differents.



@IIIII: This is my cables , rca on sp out & 2x 1/4 on my soundcard input 1/2 (1=right side /2=left side)

Okay, I understand what you mean. I haven't used audacity in a while, but I thought you could split a stereo track and mess with them in new tracks. Maybe you could correct the level like that until you locate the source of the signal drop.

actually this sounds like it will correct your issue more effectively in audacity, it is in reference to using the normalize effect.

Normalize stereo channels independently

When this box is unchecked (the default), Normalize will work on the channels of a stereo track as a pair and change the level of both channels by the same amount. Use this if your audio is already correctly balanced as this mode will preserve its original stereo balance.

When this box is checked, Normalize will adjust the amplitude separately for the left and right channels of a stereo track. This is useful for correcting stereo recordings of LPs and cassettes which may be unbalanced, as long as significant clicks are removed first.

WHERE is these box ? why i m obligate to use audacity ? the problem is here not after i save my track( after the rec) but during i rec . I will buy new cable, do you think i must take a rca to 1/4 stereo ??? what is better with my device ?

to make sure if the problem is the cable or the output you could do this:

switch the sides of the cable. (put the white cable end to the red sp output and the red to the white... and do the same on the input of your soundcard.)
is it still the same channel which is lower? then the problem can't be the cable.
to check your sp output you could import a stereo wavefile into the sp and then record that to your soundcard. compare the recorded file to the file you imported.

what i noticed on my sp is that the right channel is always a little louder but i think the problem is the needle that i use for record sampling. probably too old.

audacity is free and can fix a lot of audio issues, you can use whatever you have/

euclid, you are making this really complicated with all this audacity talk. he is using ableton.

turn up the INPUT knob on your audio interface, on the channel that is not as loud, so it is unity with the other channel.

monitor it in ableton by viewing the INS/OUTS of the track and make sure it is set to 1/2 stereo in your preferences within ableton.

you could always reference your I/O manual.
