The world lost a badass artist.

One of my all time favorite artists died a couple of days ago, Quinton Hoover. If anyone plays Magic: The Gathering, they may recognize some of his art (though he hasn't done a piece for them for years due to their being more stringent on the type of art used).

R.I.P. Mr. Hoover.

Never played Magic, on your recommendation just checked his stuff then. His technique's is great but the fantasy theme's not to my taste. Pity, because some of his non-Magic work was dope. Looks like he's got a huge art nouveau side with the Alphonse Mucha worship. Cool to find comparions like this:

Check out John Dyer Baizley, his art is incredible too. Modern fella making this European poster art vibe (circa 1890-1910) with horror themes, tends to do a lot of work for metal bands (makes sense as he's in one). His uncommissioned prints are awesome:

^ This made my mind melt. What you're seeing comes from 3 glass slides layered together, projected onto a surface. The exposure time to do this could've taken minutes, those a some patient folks. Couldn't ask for better light outdoors either. Love this portrait.

Even if the pic is good, i don't think it was taken in 1904... color don't exist at this period (check my work @ http://fonkyshit.blogspot.fr/ : B&W shit!)
