How does Heat Affect Smell?

how come in the winter time you can smell blunts/weed way after its been smoked but it doesn't linger as much in the summer, whereas garbage on city streets smells way more in summer and in the winter you can barely smell it?

Gas diffuses through the air faster when there is more energy (heat) causing air particles to move and mix faster than normal when a gas is cooled the particles are forced to squeeze together there for stopping diffusion.

Weed lingers in any season. Though for me, its better to cover it up during the winter than summer because when you exhale, it looks like fog and there's always wood and coal burning from chimneys so the smell is hardly noticed. Summertime, the heat is good to burn off the smell off your clothes.
