problem with my SP or the 5 volt smart media cards ?

Post by LesPasta »

I Don't know if it is my 202 or my memory cards but they are not readable at all anymore. There was a time when samples (maybe one or two) stored on the card would freak-out and make beeping noises or truncate themselves and skip etc.

Now when I insert a memory card banks C/D don't even become selectable...

sounds familiar to anyone ?

did you try to format the card on a
computer and then try to select on the 202 ?

SM cards tend to wear out because of the large metal part on the card. Taking the card in and out of the machine and card readers causes them to wear out. Like tape smoke said, see if your computer can read/format the card. If not try using an eraser and rub it on the metal part of card. This will remove any carbon build up or anything else possible preventing it from working.

SM cards do break, so that is always a possibility too.

i should add that formatting memory cards is not good, it is not required and it can break down your cards, same with defraggling, so use that feature only as last resort. all you need to do is erase the files and your sp should be able to handle it, or maybe reformat the card if it doesnt like the file system,
