Stick to one track per person & give us a solid deadline please! One for submissions, then another for the release date. That stuff gets us motivated (I could sit here eating chips or I could be making mad jams due sometime later this year, meh, I'm hungry).

I thought Skidz were the shit back then, but it seems that they were really just a slightly less obnoxious SoCal Surfwear. Oh, and sweet hair.

Glad some of you guys are excited. I was worried not enough people would do beats for the project.

I put in some work on my track yesterday and I think its going to be a good one. Here in the next couple weeks I could release mine as a single for the album to give a preview, if that's cool with y'all. Anyone else started their track yet?

I've been digging through all my 80's records and sampling shit and putting it together for about 3 hours a day for the past few days and I realized its all garbage. 80's was a bad theme choice, the 80's theme was a suggestion I threw out there thinking it would be cool and its just not doing it for me. I'm out of this one.

Are you kidding me? I know sampling wax is the way of the purist but if your 80s records suck you might want to consider youtube. You can't tell me there's no 80s music you like.
Public Enemy, AC/DC, Bob Marley, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Run DMC, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Beastie Boys, EPMD, Talking Heads, George Clinton, Captain Beefheart, Biz Markie, BDP, Eric B. and Rakim, Big Daddy Kane........
Or find some bad music and slaughter it! :)

2nding Chopperman here. Just because the theme is the 1980s doesn't mean you're locked into using records. Heaps of TV show themes & movie themes you could flip, just look at Chopper's pics above.

Remember you said you want to be able to add synth, and this time you can. Focus on your own synth playing then & use the 80s theme as a place to start your track. Just grab the drums from Planet Rock, loop some Prince (1:55 onwards), drop in some dialogue from Teen Wolf & play your own freaky synth riffs over the top. Can't get much more 80s than that.

^Looks like I just wrote your beat for you, dude. The first 3 or 4 tracks I thought of for my own beat have kick arse open drums, can't see why you're making it hard.

The 80's records I have are definitely good. Beverly hills cop theme, rick James, Angela boffil, Paula Abdul. I'm just not feeling this one, I put A LOT of hours into this and it just isn't sounding good.

I think mine is done. Its a series of 80s flips transitionally blended with radio tuning sounds. I'll probably post it tomorrow night if nobody objects. I can't stand to sit on tracks I'm excited about. Plus it will give a few folks a "heads up" about this tape. :D
