BEAT TAPE NUMBER 7

Post by rrr* »

What up SP fam? In the suggestions thread, we voted for an 80's theme beat tape...
Rule 1: Stick to the theme! The goal isn't to just make beats with 80's samples; the goal is to make 80's influenced beats...if that makes sense. If you can make an 80's beat without samples, then go for it. This is probably the most flexible(arbitrary  ) rule.
Rule 2: All beats must be made on a Roland SP series sampler. Outside synths are allowed, but all mixing and FX have to be from your SP.
Rule 3: Vocal clips are encouraged, but NO scratches/cuts or acapellas allowed. The only exception would be if you sampled some ol skool 80's rappers.

GET BEATS IN BY SUNDAY MAY 4TH

Rule 5? Uhhh... how about the person who made the beat and is putting their name on it submits their favorite choice and just gives you one beat? Not really cool if just one dude has the power to select beats made by others.

Also a 2 minute time limit is kinda strict, I think 3 minutes is more fair if you must insist on a time limit.

Will see if I can rustle up something for this if I get time.

I agree with LAZERBEAR on rule 5 though. Should be the artist that decides what work they want out there. One beat per person.

yeah... no, not feelin this. Someone else gets to decide what is a contribution worthy of the tape? That's wack. I feel like it's the beatmakers job to decide that, naturally. And, really? 80's? Let's just get tony ferrari in here and mop you guys up, haha.

But yeah, not vibin with this. gonna sit the bench for this one.

i think the 80s idea is kinda whats pullin me in, got tons of records that i've neglected for years that could fit the bill, and thats a style i haven't flipped in a while, we'll see where i end up in a month

Aight guys sounds good, kinda new at this. The picking beats thing was what they used to do for the Future Producers comps, but it doesn't really matter to me. These rules are all subject to change.

I apologize for my impatience.. I work at a restaurant full of dramatic bickering and when I get off the clock it is time to LET LOOSE! Not time to be confused about whatever I was confused about. I already forgot, thank god.

^lol thats awesome. I used to have a record called "Red Label Jeans Soundtrack" or something and it was literally a promo compilation that came with the jeans. BTW, i'm on the fence about 1 vs 2 submissions. I'll leave it up to you guys, thoughts?
